Ben-E and Burnt bought a stack of Soviet era vinyl from a collector based in Russia. After months of waiting, the records finally made their way from Russia, through international customs and into their hands in the United States. The records inspired a deep dive into post-World War history, eventually leading them to a few dark days in October 1962, known as the Cuban Missile Crisis. While chopping up the sounds that they cut from the records, they found that the overall mood of the music that they were creating, fit the overall dark theme of the times surrounding the Cuban Missile Crisis. The two then decided to build a project around the theme. This collection of songs is what they came up with.

One of the best beat tape projects I’ve ever heard. These are absolute smackers ….I’ve not stopped bopping my head since track 1 and am now getting dizzy while doing that and writing this review… You absolutely nailed it ….and did what you set out to do and the result is pure gold.
